About Intouch Global Filters:
The global filters available within the Intouch Insight platform allow for powerful real-time investigations and enable users to receive focused views, right in their inboxes, when combined with subscriptions.
There are many options available to filter your program data in IntouchIntelligence (IQ). Our data definitions article can be helpful in understanding the filters that you are using.
Depending on which product(s) and/or report you are viewing, or which feature you are using in IQ, filter options may vary, or may not be available at all. However, the most popular filters for hierarchy and date range (document date) are available to all.
In this article we'll cover:
- Locating Global Filters
- Saving Global Filters
- Accessing Saved Global Filters
- Important notes about Global Filters
Locating Global Filters:
The global filters menu can be accessed via the filter icon in the upper right corner of Intelligence reporting (IQ) ().
Saving Global Filters:
In cases where you find yourself frequently applying the same set of filters, it can be beneficial to Save the filter set.
To save a filter configuration:
- Apply all filters you wish to save.
- Head to the "Active" tab
- Click "Save Filters"
- Give your saved filter a name
- Select ‘Save’ on the filter creation screen.
Accessing Saved Filters:
- Open the global filters menu ()
- Click the "Saved" tab
Important Notes about Global Filters:
- A Document Date filter is ALWAYS applied. Ensure you have the appropriate range applied.
- Depending on the dashboard/list you are viewing, there may be different filter options available. This generally applies to product-specific dashboards. Several dashboards provide in-dashboard options for filtering data by program or location.
- When navigating between dashboard views and/or record lists views, check what filters you have applied. Applied filters do not transfer between all views.
- The options available for Product and Program data filters will depend on the products you have been granted access to as a user.
- When multiple data filters are applied, the results returned will include only records that match ALL filter criteria.
-
When viewing custom dashboards or records lists, it is important to understand what ‘Fixed’ filters have been applied to dashboard charts or record lists when applying any global filters.
- Example 1: In the case where a dashboard chart has a fixed ‘Hierarchy Node’ filter applied (hierarchy node = Region 1 for example), the fixed filter on the chart will override any ‘Hierarchy Node’ filters you have applied via global filters (hierarchy node = Site 0001 for example). The data presented by the chart will remain unchanged. The chart continues presenting all data for Hierarchy Node: Region 1.
- Example 2: In the case where a dashboard chart has a fixed ‘Document Date’ filter applied (Document Date = past 90 days for example), the fixed filter on the chart will override any ‘Document Date’’ filters you have applied via global filters (Document Date = YTD for example). The data presented by the chart will remain unchanged (remain past 90 days).
- Example 1: In the case where a record list has a fixed ‘Hierarchy Name’ filter applied (hierarchy name = 0001 for example), the fixed filter will NOT override any additional filters applied that are NOT hierarchy name filters (hierarchy node = Region 1 for example). The data presented in the list will include only data that belongs to the hierarchy name, 0001, AND was submitted with the hierarchy node, Region 1. If the hierarchy node with the name 0001 is NOT within Region 1, then no data will be returned. If the hierarchy node with the hierarchy name 0001 is within region 1, then ONLY data submitted with the hierarchy name 0001 will be returned.
- Example 2: In the case where a dashboard chart has a fixed ‘Document Date’ filter applied (past 90 days for example), the fixed filter on the chart will override any ‘Document Date’’ filters you have applied via global filters (YTD for example). The data presented by the chart will remain unchanged (remain past 90 days).
- If a data filter is applied to a chart/list as a fixed filter and is also used as a global filter, the global filter will be ignored:
- If a fixed data filter is applied to a chart/list and a different data filter is used as a global filter, the data presented will be the cross-section of data where BOTH filters apply.

The data filters that are available will vary depending on the dashboard or report you are viewing, and the options a user sees may be dependent on the hierarchy nodes they have access to.
The conditions that are available for setting each filter may also vary. For example, some will have only the 'is/is not' conditions and others may also have 'less than/greater than', etc.
